Nairobi Monday, 6th February 2012: Securex today announces the opening of two offices in Kisumu and Thika further deepening its penetration in the country. The two offices, which will provide security guards and sell security equipment, will be up and running by the next business quarter, amid mounting concerns over rising crime in the areas.
“We are in the final stages of setting up the new offices, and expect that by end of April, Kisumu and Thika will be open as our newest branches”, said Nitin Wadhwa Director projects, Securex.
The opening represents a doubling in Securex branches in Kenya, adding to the Nairobi and Mombasa branches, and takes to six the number of regional offices for the company, including two in Uganda.
The opening of the two offices come as the newly expanded Kisumu International airport and the construction of Thika super highway have opened up the two towns to rapid expansion with hotels, new branches of businesses headquartered in Nairobi and high end housing developments setting up.
The areas are also experiencing increased crime rates, with Kisumu residents in October 2011 through Kisumu City Residents Voice having voiced their distress to administration and senior police officials.
“Businesses in these areas are facing security concerns can take huge set-backs, offices cleared out of all computers, data removed, premises damaged, as well as many other hits, greatest of all being the devastation that can be caused by break ins and robberies”, said Toni Sahni, Managing Director, Securex Security Agencies.
Even as the police have stepped up security, more businesses and households are looking for alternative ways to secure their premises and are turning to technology.
“In the last two years there has been a growing demand for our security equipment and guards in Kisumu and Thika areas. Having an office on the ground will enable us provide even better services to our clients” added Mr. Wadhwa.
Securex already supplies guards to Homa bay but supervisors and technicians have to travel all the way to retrain or handle any issues that rise regarding to their guards or equipment which is tedious to both our clients and staff. The new branches will enable the firm stream line their services and expand their reach in the region.
“We have already recruited the guards for these stations and their training is already underway” says Nitin.
The security company has also been selling their equipment to Kisumu and Thika clients but the increased and steady demand for equipment from clients in the area prompted it to set up a branch.
